PEWUG Coverage Keeps increasing

The last few months has see quite a lot of growth in the network. Several new users have joined, and we now have a total or 4 high sites. We also have a transit site in Walmer that has managed to hook a few users despite al the trees in the way.

We are ecstatic to announce a milestone in the PEWUG’s existence - our first link is up and running! We now have all out towers (Lovemore; Linton Grange and Theescombe) connected.

A big thanks once again to all the guys that assisted in reaching this point.

PEWUG Theescombe Tower is up and running!

We here at the PEWUG are moving forward with a surprising pace. We are therefore happy to announce the erection of our second tower located on the Theescombe Hill near Lorraine. In due time this tower will be linked to our first tower located on Lovemore Height Hill thereby connecting all the current “Wuggers” together.

Well done to our counterparts in the Gauteng and surrounding areas who achieved what a few years ago seemed impossible. They have joined to form the largest wireless user group in the southern hemisphere.

We are progressing nicely, to the point that we are now seriously looking at the next phase of the WUG, a link to Theescombe. We therefore need to call a meeting for all of those interested in the project (ie. those who will connect to the proposed tower). Please keep your eyes on the forum for more details.

Our first tower is up and running!

After a weekend of bad weather (and a bit of bad planning) we have finally got our first tower up! The SSID is PEWUG-LMH ( 33°59′26.39″S; 25°31′43.69″E) so scan and see if you can connect. If you would like to access the network you will need to introduce yourself on the forums and apply for an IP address.

We are happy to announce that our first tower is almost up. Due to the amazing LOS at one of our members house we have decided on Lovemore Heights as the location. We have planned the installation for Saturday 19 April 2008. We will keep everyone posted as to progress. Also keep your eyes on the Gallery for photos of the install.
